Can I Use an Indoor Tower Fan Outside?
You should never use an indoor fan outside. Even if the fan will be in a fairly sheltered area, you still should not use an indoor fan outside because they contain electrical components which are not designed to withstand any moisture at all.
Tower vs. Pedestal Outdoor Fans
Before we take a look at the Lasko 4890, I first want to quickly go through the differences between outdoor tower and outdoor pedestal fans to help you decide which option is more suitable for your needs.
There are two main reasons you should choose a tower fan over a pedestal fan. Firstly, for aesthetics. Many tower fans are more visually appealing than pedestal fans and might suit the area a little better. The second reason is that they are thinner so take up less space. This makes them ideal for smaller areas or if there’s a perfect spot where you want to place the fan but a pedestal fan won’t fit.
The advantage of a pedestal fan is that they are considerably more powerful than tower fans. If you value effectiveness over aesthetics then you will definitely want to go with a pedestal fan. You can find our guide to outdoor pedestal fans here.
Lasko 4890 Elegant Living Tower Fan
- 3 speeds
- Dimmable lights
- Wireless remote control
The Lasko 4890 Elegant Living tower fan is a very highly rated fan and recieves a lot of praise in customer reviews. It puts out a good amount of air which is good because this is often the biggest drawback of tower fans. It has 3 speed settings so you can choose between a more powerful breeze of quieter performance. It also includes lighting which is a nice touch and the lights can be controlled (including a dimming feature) with the included wireless remote. Due to the narrow size of this fan, it’s ideal if you don’t want your fan to take up much space.
Overall, this is a great outdoor tower fan and the only good one I could find, however, it can be quite difficult to find and you may need to look around and find a second hand model.
