If you find yourself getting a little bit cold in the office, a space heater might be the perfect solution. In this guide, we will take a look at a few recommendations. We’ve specifically chosen heaters that most people find to operate quietly because you obviously don’t want to disturb your work or your co-workers.
One thing you do need to consider is whether space heaters are in fact allowed in your office as some companies don’t allow them. We’ll talk about this and some other things to consider in the next section.

Things to Consider When Purchasing a Quiet Space Heater for an Office
Below you can find the most important things you need to consider when purchasing a quiet space heater for an office. When we selected our recommendations, we took these points into account.
Are Space Heaters Allowed in the Office?
Due to safety concerns and the potential for causing heat damage to office equipment, some companies don’t allow space heaters in the office. (I talk more about using space heaters safely in an office further down the page.) Before you purchase a space heater to use at the office, make sure they are allowed at your workplace.
Obviously you’re going to want to choose a space heater that operates quietly. We’ve only included space heaters which have positive reviews in terms of the level of noise they make.
Are You Heating the Whole Room or Just Yourself?
If you only want a space heater to keep just yourself warm, you can find some handy little portable space heaters that are perfect for the job. Or if you work in a smaller office, a larger space heater will be able to provide heat for the whole room. One thing to note is that a space heater won’t be effective at heating the whole of a large office.
Like I mentioned earlier, safety concerns are one reason some companies don’t allow space heaters in the office. In a busy environment where the heater could get knocked over and with flammable material around, you should only purchase a space heater with sufficient safety features. All of the space heaters on our list have overheat protection (shuts the heater off if it overheats) and tip-over protection (shuts the heater off if it tips over).
Safety Concerns with Office Space Heaters
Using a space heater in an office presents a variety of safety concerns. If it’s a busy environment, there’s a higher chance of the heater being knocked over, if there’s a lot of paper around this creates a fire hazard, and if the heater is placed too close to equipment like computers it can cause damage.

Best Quiet Space Heaters for an Office
Now let’s take a look at our recommendations for the best quiet space heaters for an office. We have chosen a few different models which will suit different circumstances so we’ll hopefully have one which fits your specific needs.
1. Vornado AVH10
If you want a space heater to heat up the whole office, you’re going to need quite a lot of power. The Vornado AVH10 is a 1500 watt heater and uses what they describe as Vortex Action to help circulate the heat throughout the whole room. It won’t be able to effectively heat large offices, but it’s ideal for heating the whole of a smaller office.
In terms of safety features, the Vornado AVH10 has a cool-touch exterior, tip-over protection, and an automatic safety shut-off in case it overheats. All important features when using a heater in an office.
Most users find this heater to be very quiet, particularly when using the 750 watt setting.
There are two main downsides to this heater. First, it’s fairly expensive, and secondly, a few users have noted that it gives off a chemical-like smell when you first use it. If possible, you might want to leave it on outside for a while until the smell clears.
2. 1500W Ceramic Space Heater
If you’re looking for a powerful space heater to heat the whole office that won’t break the bank, this 1500 watt ceramic heater is ideal. It has two heat settings (1500 watts and 750 watts), and it also includes the option to blow cold air.
Safety features include tip-over protection and overheat protection which are very important when using a heater in an office.
There are two main downsides to this space heater. First, it isn’t as good looking as the Vornado, at least not in my opinion. And secondly, there are a few reports of users receiving defective units which suggests the quality control for this heater isn’t the best. This is usually what you expect to see with a more budget-friendly product.
3. AmazonBasics 500 Watt Heater
If you’re looking for a personal space heater to just keep yourself warm, a smaller model like the AmazonBasics 500 watt heater is a great choice. It’s nice and compact with a fairly low wattage making it ideal for keeping your hands warm in the office.
Although it does have tip-over protection, this heater doesn’t have overheat protection so you do not want to leave it on unattended. Obviously, due to the smaller size and lower wattage of this space heater, it isn’t the most powerful option and won’t be effective at heating anymore than the air right next to it.
